What's in a name?

What's in a name?
History passed down through the generations...
Gwendolyn

My mother: gave me a strong sense of family, high standards, work ethic, set an example of what a wife should be and was  consistently dependable in times of trouble. Her house is always the place you can come home to.

Me...Merry Gwen
Gosh, I hope I have passed on the same.

Kimberly Gwen
Like Peter...the Rock. I know she picked up each family strong point and added some of her own. Always brings God into Monday and trusts each day to Him.

Emily Gwen
Still learning what she is going to be, still growing her stock that is already paying dividends. This magnificent, statuesque, beauty, will hopefully carry on the love, dignity and character of the mothers before her and raise them to even greater levels.
We have a mother-daughter lineage in common and a name, untarnished, that has been passed down...
but it took a lot more to make us who we are:
Grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, sisters, brothers, children and other grandchildren whose names (except for the Gwen part) could just as easily fit into the list above, not to mention our faith and a multitude of friends.

Upon reflection, I shall always strive to be the best:
G-gracious
W-wise
E-evangelical
N-nurturing
...Gwen that I can be. :)

What great memories I made this past weekend. First time ever I got to spend the night with one of my wonderful grandchildren. Great opportunity to lie on my bed with Gwen 3 and Gwen 4 and talk about the Gwen who was not there. Of course she is adored by all three of us and it was all the greatest love that we talked about. I was allowed to sleep as late as I wanted to because they did something that is unheard of at their house - - -missed church. In the afternoon they escorted me to my oldest grandson's home to visit
with his beautiful family. Did not get to see Joe's game, but I did see his Science project which was very interesting. Then Issy put on a show in front yard showing her cheerleading acrobatics. I told her I was a cheerleader in l941-1945 and I could do all those things. Actually I, too was the very top of the trapese of girls.
I think I corrected that mistake as we did not do that, but they let us twirl our circular skirts, which were knee length, purple on one side and white on the other.
That way our parents did not have to buy but one skirt.
Joe was issued his huge bag, with three caps, 3 shirts, 3 pants, belt, shoes and everything a boy will need for his season.
What a life! Oh!How I love them all.
