Birthday Success!

This past week end, William, four of his closest friends and their Dads, had another successful camp-out at Northcroft .  A trip up Croft mountain to find the famous "Jelly Bean" tree, that only blooms on William's birthday; started off the boy's adventure.  Throughout the day there were also special polished rocks, salted among the natural river rock, that had a purple "W" on one side, to be found and collected.  Prizes were given to the one that found the most!

The boys enjoyed their tent city camp ground, a hike to the waterfall, many trips to Kate's, "Egypt", cup cakes (and too many more "goodies" to mention), dinner (and breakfast) around the campfire, a terrific Snipe Hunt and thanks to Grandad; as many 4-wheeler rides as the boys wanted to take.

Thank God for this wonderful place and for all the terrific boys (and dads!) who enjoy it.

Honorable mention to A and E for being such good helpers!

P.S. S-C's feel free to add to the memories on Chatterbox if you like.  I will post any favorite pictures and memories just for the record.

Today is William's Birthday!

Tomorrow, William will be here at Northcroft, surrounded by his family and friends for his annual birthday camp out.  Have a great 7th birthday, William!   Grandad and I will look forward to a weekend of celebration.

P.S.  It looks like the weather is going to be great!  Make sure you have something warm for the cool night air around the campfire.  I love you!

Kate has been but a Skype call away

I shall cry as I write this, but you all know how much it means to me to hear from Kate and to know that she is happy and well. For the last several days Kate has had access to free internet and she has skyped me daily at Northcroft for long conversations and seeing her face to face.  (She got a few days of free internet time for signing up for paid time after trying it out.)

I want to share with you that she is enjoying her time on Little Corn Island.  She is painting signs for establishments near her house, working the breakfast shift at a small eating place on the island, searching for new recipes to prepare fish and rice and cooking for a new friend most evenings, taking care of several animals that have taken up residence on her front stoop, diving when she can and enjoying the sun.  She has funny stories to tell about her island friends and is like the Pied-Piper when the children see her out and about.

I continue to pray for her safety and happiness.  I know you do too.

Keegan, born Febuary 3, 1999

Happy Birthday KEEGAN!

Our boy, Keegan, is having his 12th birthday and we're all on board to wish him a happy one!  A little update on Keegan tells us that he is a 6th grader at White Hill Middle School in Fairfax, California.  His sport is baseball and he also has a gift for acting.  Currently, Keegan is working about eight hours a week (after school) preparing for his next performance, a jr. high musical,  on March 25 and 26th.

I understand from Kristin that the school is able to hire a director, assistant director, music director and choreographer, and rent out space in a local theater house for the production because of something called the Yes Foundation, which is a parent-funded organization that supports the arts in the public schools in their district.  (Keegan also learned to play the violin last year.)

All I can say is that if that theater was here in Atlanta, this family would be filling the rows, shouting BREAK-A-Leg Keegan, and applauding with love and pride.

Happy Birthday Keegan.  With all that we are, we love you and are watching your birthday, today, and in the future with great anticipation.

P.S.  To Keegan...If you have an email address keep me updated, write me at (you're #4).  I would love to hear from you!  I love you!!
